I’m not sure. One thing said that an adult inkling gives birth to baby inklings, goes back to living a normal squid life in water, and then dying. Another answer might be if they cut a hosts tentacle, it will grow into a baby (this fact was said in the art of splatoon. It was the octoling page that had the factoid on it)
